Summer Telemark Events

There are two telemark festivals this summer and BASI are running a CPD course later in the year:

  • Sat 20th May: North West Telemark Festival are hosting a festival at Manchester Chill Factore. 10-5pm. Please visit for more details. John Eames (BASI telemark director) and Jaz Taylor (reigning British Champion) will be teaching at this event. Limited NTN kit available to rent.
  • Sat 29th July: The Scottish Telemark Club are hosting a festival at Snow Factor, Braehead. 10-5pm. More details will be posted up nearer the time. Limited cable kit available to rent.
  • Sun 1st Oct: BASI are running a CPD course (formally known as BASI refresher) and Chill Factore, Manchester. It is a process by which BASI members can further their educational training and update their skills to the required level to maintain their licence to work within the parameters of the qualification they hold and the regulations within the country that teaching will be carried out.


Cairngorm Equipment Sale

On November 12th there will be a great chance to buy and sell ski gear. There will be a big selection of secondhand and new gear including new and used touring gear and a broad range of new and used racing skis,boots and equipment. The sale has a reputation for excellent prices and for those that need it ski club members are available for advice. We’ve now a system that allows for a quicker checkout for sellers and buyers.

British Telemark Championships 2017!

The British Telemark Championships will be held in Pralognan-la-Vanoise in the French Alps on 7-19th January. The event is organised by the military, however it is open to everyone and is always a fun and welcoming event. There is instruction during the first week for all abilities, followed by the Development and Championship races in the second week. The event finishes with the mountain race and prize giving.

Glasgow Festival!

Thank you everyone for another fantastic telemark event in Glasgow last weekend! Sadly no BBQ this year but we took up the whole width of the Chinese restaurant. Thanks especially to the gate judges, the snow centre staff, instructors, TD and Kevin for the photos! We had some amazing sponsors again this year, thank you so much for the great prizes and support…Blues/Tisos, Bam clothing, Jottnar, Reusch, Scott and BASI.

Manchester Festival and race!

The first event of the 2016 Indoor Telemark series kicked off in Manchester. Sadly there were less racers due to other commitments but we had 40 people at the festival on Saturday.

A huge thanks to the Manchester Cross Country Ski Club for organising a fantastic festival. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the instruction and the race training. BASI provided a telemark instructor for the day who was James Bennet, a former international ski racer!

GB team members Jasmin Taylor and Sion Bingham fought it out at the top for first place on race day. Attached are the results and below is the top 5:

Aviemore Adventure Film Festival

image001The Aviemore Adventure Film Festival will be held on the 22-24 April 2016.

Tickets for the festival are  £46 or for evening session tickets £14.

This is a non-profit event run by local volunteers. They are hoping this year’s festival will be a success so it can continue in the years to come – they would appreciate any support (publicity wise) you can give.
